Alualpha celebrates
40 years of excellence
Alualpha is established in Mem Martins, based on the Alpha brand, which was created in 1981 as a development department within Perfil. Still in 1985, Perfil transfers the Alpha brand to Alualpha.
The first accessories for window frames were launched on the market, including sliding locks, handles and hinges. Important products such as the 203, 401, 403, 405, 502 and 303 were launched, which contributed to the company's growth in the following years.
Implementation of multi-purpose management software, developed in-house and called Master. It facilitated order processing and invoicing, increasing production and commercial efficiency.
First presence at a national trade fair for building materials, Concreta. Steel brackets were launched, a novelty on the domestic market, which increased efficiency in application and made labour easier.
Start of export sales to the Spanish market, promoting collaborations with clients such as Acdeal Galega Vigo and Mahecar. This year was also marked by the acquisition of the first fax machine, which helped with export efforts!
Acquisition of a 17,000 m² plot of land in Terrugem, Sintra, where there was a small 1300 m² pavilion. This is still Alualpha's main pavilion today.
Start of production of aluminium brackets, which made it possible to completely fill the channel of the window frame, providing greater stability when assembled and used, as well as being rust-proof.
Acquisition of the first zamak and aluminium injection machines. This investment enabled the development of new lines. The same year saw the launch of the Pratika line (developed to facilitate assembly) and the Reflex line (the first injection moulded line), which quickly became star products.
Start of exports outside the European market.
Installation of an automatic lacquering and galvanising line. Already environmentally conscious, a sewage treatment plant was installed in the same year.
With the aim of centralising production, the facilities in Terrugem began to be expanded, with the 1,300 m² pavilion now occupying 6,000 m². Production moved out of Mem Martins.
Following an outsourcing project for Phillips (production of camera housings), the company acquired its first CNC machining equipment.
The Quality System Certification (ISO 9001) was obtained to open up new horizons and respond to customer demands for exports.
Launch of the Star line, made up of locks produced using extruded profiles.
Launch of the Millennium line, with a disruptive design that was close to the trends of the time.
Participation in our first international trade fair, at Veteco in Madrid, where the Star and Millennium lines were unveiled to the public.
Launch of the Eco line, a collection of more economical fasteners intended primarily for export.
Launch of the Global line, a line that has become iconic within Alualpha. The product's great functionality and reliability made it very impactful and revolutionary, presenting a significant commercial competitive advantage.
Transition to the use of 3-D CAD software with the adoption of Autodesk's Inventor tool as a continuation of the use of AutoCad.
Alualpha is recognised as a Leading SME, which was the first award the company won.
Start of in-house tilt and turn production, fuelling huge technical and functional innovation. This new product quickly became a star product and began to make a significant contribution to Alualpha's turnover.
A new integrated business management system (ERP) was implemented, allowing for greater control in the management of internal processes, from orders to product dispatch, including development, stock management and invoicing.
The corporate image of the Alualpha company and the Alpha brand were updated, seeking to bring a more contemporary identity in line with trends.
Launch of the Multipoint system, a crucial product for sliding windows, marking a significant advancement in security. It stands out from the competition thanks to its stainless steel front, its adjustability and the possibility of front fixing.
With the need to centralise operations and expand the production area, a plot of 10,000 m² was acquired adjacent to the existing one, bringing Alualpha's facilities in Terrugem to a total of 27,000 m².
Sintra City Council recognised Alualpha as a Company of Recognised Municipal Interest, a decision approved by the Municipal Assembly.
Start of exclusive assembly activity in a new group company, Industécnica. This step allowed for greater independence and control over the service provided.
Implementation of software to digitise the shop floor, to collect data to help make daily production management more efficient.
Launch of the Orizon line, which sought to bring a product with greater neutrality and in line with minimalist architectural trends to the Alpha brand portfolio.
Alualpha receives its first design award, a Good Design (USA), from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design for the Orizon line.
Participation for the first time in BAU, one of the largest professional fairs in the sector, which this year took place in digital format in the middle of Covid-19.
Recognition of Alualpha as an SME of Excellence.
Two more international design awards for the Orizon line. This time, the awards are German and the most recognised, a German Design Award and an IF Design Award.
Participation in the BAU trade fair in Munich, with our own stand, where the new Global Plus (cremonas and handles) and Exo (locks) lines were launched.
Start of work to improve Alualpha's facilities, in the commercial area and in the common reference centre, to improve working conditions for our employees.
